Learn Your Partners Love Language

The five love languages, a concept outlined by Gary Chapman in his book of the same name. They are: words of affirmation,quality time, giving and receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. Raul and Vivian have a lengthy discussion about this concept and how they interact with each other and with their children. The discussion is incited by a listener who submits a question, asking how he can make his partner love herself more.

Vivian and Raul’s first answer is that you can’t make someone else love themselves, but they expand on that idea to show how by respecting your partner, and loving your partner, your partner will learn to value herself. The more you show that your partner has value, the more she will believe in her own value. Use the five love languages to express your love to your partner, and learn how to communicate more clearly by “speaking” the love language that your partner understands best. If you and your partner both express your love for each other in a way that the other can understand, in the process you will show each other how you have value and are worthy of love.

How to Grow From a Warrior & Princess, to King & Queen

This is the first episode of God, Money & Purpose since Raul hosted the Next Level Virtual Leadership Summit. The event was a huge success, and the biggest lesson from that experience is to have the emotional intelligence to keep calm when things go wrong. Things did go wrong at first, but within the first hour, everything was flowing. Raul and Vivian discuss the benefits and possible downsides of using technology to work and communicate.

The first question is, “How can I be on the same page as my partner when we discipline our kids?” Vivian and Raul share their experience with “conscious parenting” and compare how the experience they each had growing up has changed so much now that they are parents.

Is love enough to keep a marriage together?

Raul and Vivian celebrate 21 years of marriage this week. After all that time, the two reflect on the mistakes that they made early on in their relationship. The two were young, and made mistakes that young people make.

Raul admits that his biggest mistake was being possessive of Vivian, who decided to lie about her whereabouts when he wasn’t around. Raul fell in love with a fiery, independent woman, but his own insecurity cooled that very fire. Raul came to realize the error of his ways and learn to let Vivian be the Amazing Queen she always was.
